Tanzania Safari Packing List
What to pack for a Tanzania safari, including clothing, luggage, camera gear, documents, and comfort items.
Pack light, practical clothing in neutral colors for safari. Soft-sided luggage is easier to load into safari vehicles and small aircraft where weight limits may apply.
Bring layers because mornings can be cool and afternoons warm. A fleece or light jacket is useful in highland areas such as Ngorongoro. Comfortable shoes, sun protection, insect repellent, and a reusable water bottle are simple but important items.
For photography, bring spare batteries, memory cards, lens cloths, and a dust-safe camera bag. Binoculars are useful even if your guide has a pair.
Keep passports, travel insurance, medication, and key documents in your hand luggage. If your safari connects with Zanzibar, pack beachwear separately so it is easy to access.
Common Questions
Can I wear bright colors on safari?
Neutral colors are usually better because they handle dust well and are less distracting in the bush.
Do I need heavy hiking boots?
For vehicle safaris, comfortable closed shoes are usually enough unless you have walking activities planned.
